Sony a7R V deal status right now
The a7R V body is $3,498 at B&H. We checked the body page on October 28. Amazon’s tracker showed $3,498 on October 12, and Adorama moved from $3,298 on October 7 to $3,498 on October 12. The $3,298 price is $900 off a $4,198 comparison price. It was last Black Friday’s price at B&H, and it has come back several times in 2026.
The a7R V is no longer Sony’s newest high-resolution camera. Sony announced the a7R VI on May 13, 2026 at $4,499.99, which is why the a7R V’s sale price keeps returning. We haven’t seen Sony announce its 2026 holiday savings. Last year they began on November 3.
$3,498 is $200 above a price that has appeared at least five times this year. Sony’s holiday savings are the most likely next one. If you see $3,298, buy it.
What counts as a good a7R V price
- $3,298 or less$900 off B&H’s $4,198 list price, and last Black Friday’s price. TechRadar called it a record low in June. Buy.
- $3,498B&H’s price on October 28. Amazon and Adorama were also $3,498 on October 12. Fine if you need it now, but it’s $200 above the usual sale price.

DPReview measured the a7R V’s rolling shutter in electronic-shutter stills at about 100ms, so use the mechanical shutter for anything that moves. It measured the a7R VI at 19.6ms.

Good fit
- Landscape, architecture and studio shooters who want 61MP.
- Wildlife shooters who crop heavily and shoot subjects that don’t move fast.
- Anyone who wants an 8-stop stabilized camera with a 9.44M-dot viewfinder.
- Buyers who don’t need the a7R VI’s speed and want to save about $1,000.
Look elsewhere
- Sports and fast action. See the a7R VI or the Canon R5 Mark II.
- Tight budgets. The a7 IV is $1,500 less.
- Anyone who wants a small body. The a7C II is 514g.
- Heavy file users. 61MP files are large and need fast cards.
