Nikon Z8 deal status right now
On November 6 the Z8 body page at B&H lists $3,196.95, in stock, with no crossed-out price. On November 1 the same page was $3,296.95. The new price is $300 below last Black Friday’s $3,496.95. The regular price we have on file is $4,296.95, but this morning’s page does not show that figure, so the discount amount is no longer printed.
Last year’s holiday rebate was $800 off, and Nikon has already gone further. From October 19 Nikon also lists $150 off an FTZ II adapter bought with a Z body, so a Z8 and an adapter come to $1,150 off. We haven’t seen what replaces the rebate on November 1. Last year Nikon’s new rebates started on November 6, so there’s a chance of a lower price, but a repeat of last year’s $800 would be $200 worse than today.

Body, lens kits and the FTZ II adapter
We did not reopen the kit pages on November 6. The body alone is $3,196.95. Compare any kit against that body price plus the lens you actually need. The earlier kit figures, $4,196.95 with the 24-120mm and $5,146.95 with the 180-600mm, are from before this morning’s check.
Who should buy the Z8
Good fit
- Wildlife, sports and event photographers who want Z9 autofocus and speed in a smaller body.
- Hybrid shooters who need 8K or RAW video as well as 45.7MP stills.
- Landscape and studio shooters who want high resolution, a 1/32000 shutter and a 900-second maximum exposure.
- Z-system owners moving up from the Z6 III or Z7 II.
Look elsewhere
- All-day battery life. 340 shots per charge is small for a flagship, and the MB-N12 grip costs extra.
- Low light and smaller files. The Z6 III’s 24.5MP sensor reaches ISO 64,000 natively, and the Z8’s reaches 25,600.
- An integrated grip or dual CFexpress slots. Those are on the Z9.
- A mechanical shutter. The Z8 has none, so flash sync and fast-moving subjects need care.
Is a Z8 II coming?
Nikon hasn’t announced one. Nikon Rumors says the Z9 II is now expected in 2027, delayed by heavy RED integration, and its earlier list called the Z8 II “years away”. Forum users expect the Z8 II to follow the Z9 II. That’s speculation. We wouldn’t wait for a successor that’s likely more than a year off when the Z8 is at its lowest price.
Alternatives to compare
Nikon Z9
$1,500 moreStill $4,796.95 on the November 6 body page, $400 below last Black Friday’s $5,196.95. It has the same sensor, plus an integrated grip. The gap over the Z8 is now $1,600. See our Z9 tracker.
Nikon Z6 III
$1,300 lessStill $1,996.95 on the November 6 body page. It has 24.5MP, 6K video and 20 fps in RAW. Choose it if you don’t need 45.7MP.
Canon EOS R5 Mark II
$800 more$3,999 on the November 6 body page, about $800 more. It’s Canon’s 45MP stacked body, with a different lens system. See our Canon R5 Mark II tracker.
Sony a7R V
Higher resolutionThe 61MP body lists at $3,798, and last Black Friday it was $3,298. It isn’t a stacked sensor, so its burst rate is 10 fps. See our Sony Black Friday guide.
Used and refurbished Z8 prices
- Adorama used: Nikon Price Watch lists used Z8 bodies from $2,949, about $350 below new, with most at $3,149 to $3,229. The Nikon rebate doesn’t apply to used gear, so the savings over new are small.
- Nikon’s refurbished store: listed the Z8 at $4,999.95 on October 18, which is more than the new price. Forum members on Fred Miranda reported sale prices of $2,899 in the refurbished sales of August 25 and September 22. Those were temporary, and Nikon’s 90-day refurbished warranty is shorter than the new camera’s. Nikon’s refurbished store is at nikonusa.com (not an affiliate link).
Retailer tips for buying the Z8
- B&H: an authorized dealer, and the November 6 body page is $3,196.95. Online checkout closes for Shabbat from Friday evening to Saturday night, including Black Friday.
- Other authorized dealers: Nikon Rumors lists Paul’s Photo and Service Photo as carrying the rebate. The rebate is the same at every authorized dealer, so choose by stock and extras.
- Amazon: had the Z8 at $3,296.95 on October 7, during its Prime Big Deal Days sale. Buy only when the listing is shipped and sold by Amazon.com, so you get a US-warranty unit.
- Price protection: keep your receipt. Last November, buyers on a photo forum reported that B&H refunded the difference after Nikon’s holiday rebates started. Ask your dealer about price adjustment.
