Who should buy the R6 Mark II

Good fit

  • You want one full-frame body for stills and video, and $1,999 is the budget.
  • You want in-body stabilization and two card slots, which the cheaper R8 lacks.
  • You were looking at the R6 Mark III and don’t need its 32.5MP sensor or 7K video.

Look elsewhere

  • You want Canon’s newest hybrid. The R6 Mark III is $2,799 until a rebate appears.
  • You want the lightest full-frame body and can live without stabilization. See the R8.
  • You need 45MP. That’s the R5 Mark II.

In 2025 the main event ran November 20 to December 1. Canon hasn’t announced 2026 dates. Current Canon offers on other bodies end November 1.
