Who should buy the R8
Good fit
- You want the cheapest new full-frame body Canon sells, and you mostly use stabilized lenses.
- Weight matters more than a second card slot.
- You’re pairing it with the R6 Mark II only if the $600 gap isn’t worth stabilization and dual slots.
Look elsewhere
- You shoot handheld video without stabilized lenses. Get the R6 Mark II.
- You want two cards for paid work.
- $1,399 is the only price you can find. $1,299 has shown up without a holiday.
