Sony FX3 deal status right now
What Sony sells today is the FX3A, a refreshed version of the 2021 FX3 with the same 12.1MP sensor. It’s $4,298 at B&H and Amazon, and Sony’s own store listed $4,299.99 in July. The original FX3 body is out of stock at B&H, where its last listing was $3,898 in June 2025.
B&H briefly dropped the FX3A to $3,998 from October 6 to 12, then went back to $4,298. That’s the same price B&H listed on December 5, 2025 after a $300 holiday cut. So $3,998 is the price to beat.
$4,298 is $300 above the best price we’ve found in the last year. The FX3A is a working camera, so if a job needs it before the holidays, buy it. Otherwise watch for Sony’s holiday savings, which began on November 3 last year.

What about the FX3 II and the FX5?
Sony has never announced an FX3 II. Sony Alpha Rumors ran a headline on June 19 saying no FX3 II is coming, and Sony said nothing either way. On July 22 Sony announced the FX5, with a 16.6MP stacked sensor, 3:2 open gate and internal 16-bit X-OCN raw at $4,899.99. Sony doesn’t call it the FX3’s successor, and Sony’s FX3A is still on sale. US retailer Adorama expected FX5 deliveries in early to mid November.

Who should buy the FX3
Good fit
- Solo filmmakers who want a small cinema camera with a fan and XLR audio.
- Gimbal and run-and-gun shooters. It has “cage-free” mounting threads.
- Low-light video, thanks to the 12.1MP sensor.
- B-camera work on larger productions.
Look elsewhere
- Photographers. 12.1MP and no viewfinder in the box make it a poor stills camera.
- Anyone who wants 6K or 8K video, or internal raw. See the FX5.
- Budgets below $3,000. The FX30 is far cheaper.

- Adorama: an authorized dealer that carries Sony’s Cinema Line and its accessories.
- Check the model: FX3A is the current version. The older FX3 listing is out of stock.

Will the Sony FX3 go on sale for Black Friday 2026?
Probably. B&H took $300 off the FX3A in last year’s holiday sale, and it briefly did so again in October. We haven’t seen Sony announce its 2026 holiday dates.
What’s the difference between the FX3 and the FX3A?

Should I wait for an FX3 II?
